A coalition of religious groups is asking the Legislature to exempt them from a Federal law called the Real ID Act on the basis that their right to privacy and freedom of religion is being violated.

The senate considers election laws, as one senator promotes his bill to make it easier for members of the military who are overseas to cast a vote.

The State Senate gave final approval to seven bills Monday including a measure to make it clear that those convicted of certain serious crimes may not run for political office.
